Wed. Aug. 11th, 2010-Livorno (Florence)

So today we start with a yummy breakfast at the Horizon Cafe then we boarded a tour bus at 7:50 a.m. to head for Florence.
Alas, a Coka Cola truck somewhere in front of us had randomly caught on fire so we were in this traffic jam for over 3 hours. While I was super, duper happy we had a working potty on board, I was extremely dissappointed to miss our appointment time for our Michaelangelo ;(
Our tour host (Luca) was super cute and positive and the entire experience ended up being super fun. When we finally got to Florence, we toured the Uffizi Gallery where we saw paintings by most of the great Rennaisance masters-Carravagio, Botticheli, Buonorotti, etc.
We giggled and sweated our way through the entire place. Afterwards, we shopped in Florence where I found a really cool puzzle for Amy and amazing posters for my boys. Florence is the leather capital of the world and Michele scored a screamin' deal on a jacket and found Mike a leather jounal. (BTW-does he love it/use it?).
The ride back was uneventful-we chatted-imagine that, after 6 full days together, we are still chatting each other's ears off! ;)

Mike doesn't use his journal as much as I've used my jacket, but I think he needs more free time:) Maybe we should send him to Italy--he could use it as a travel journal!

Excellent plan. Travel journals absolutely rock. People who keep them are utter geniuses! ;)
